About

I've always had an interest in how computers communicate with users, and how a users input tells a computer what to do. In my last year of undergrad, I found an interest in Unity 3D and learning how to code. From there, post-graduation I entered a DevOps Bootcamp to further my knowledge into the realm of technology. Learning about software development life cycle and continuous integration/continuous deployment. As of today, I'm a graduate student at DePaul University working towards my MS in Computer Science. In my spare time, I enjoy improving my skills in HTML, JavaScript, CSS, and Unity

In my previous job as a Technology Assistant, I helped with developing a game curriculum to help afterschool programs inspire students to learn about coding and game development. The pilot program began in March 2021 and has recently ended in April 2021. Students developed their games and exported their projects to keep and share with friends and family members. My current position as a Technology Assistant at Children's Health(Dallas) focuses on helping patients with physical therapy, emotional support, procedural support, and play using virtual reality headsets. I work on 3D prints for patients and Child Life specialists. As I continue my journey down the rabbit hole of technology, I am always amazed by the new things I learn. Feel free to look at past projects down below!

Portfolio

Escape Room from Armando Apolinar on Vimeo.

I focused on coding my on work instead of using Unity's premade scripts. I worked with using global and local variables having objects interact with each other. Players would focus on solving this simple puzzle to escape this room. Once players have solved a puzzle, objects would disable. Interactable objects where coded to highlight when user's view hoverd over object.

Elevator Simulation from Armando Apolinar on Vimeo.

In my independent study, I focused on creating my own code to have a user play a simulation of an elevator. This project focused on learning the animation controller and using it within my code. I also used coroutines and ienumerator to time when the doors would close after the user selects a button. Using the Animation controller was involed with my coroutines as well. All code in this game was created by myself and zero use of Unity's premade scripts.

Dallas Afterschool Game Pilot from Armando Apolinar on Simmer.

During my time at Dallas Afterschool, we focused on creating a fun environment for kids to learn about Unity. This game was for students to play and get inspired to build their own game from a basic Unity tutorial and advancing the game to make it their own. In this game, I used the animation controller, UI, and basic C#.
